TV shows
Our Flag Means Death (2022) (1 season) Rating: 9.9/10 Tags: LGBTQ+; British; Comments: Awesome show. The only thing stopping it from being 10/10 is the lack of a second season
The Addams Family (1964) (2 seasons) Rating: 9.5/10 Tags: Addams Family; Comments: It's in black and white, but it is still my all time favourite piece of Addams Family media
Harley Quinn (2019) (3 seasons) Rating: 9.3/10 Tags: LGBTQ+; Cartoon; DC; ;Comments: I can't go into too many details about why I love this show so much without giving spoilers. But. I do love this show very much and I absolutely cannot wait for season 4!!!
Uncle (2014) (3 seasons) Rating: 9/10 Tags: LGBTQ+; British; Mature; Comments: Fucking love it. Great show. Highly recommended. I live for Val.
Doctor Who (2005) (13 seasons) Rating: 8.7/10 Tags: LGBTQ+; British; Doctor Who; Comments: I loved Eccleston's, Tennant's, and Smith's doctors to the point where I have trouble picking a favourite, but I don't love the direction the show took after Smith left. It was fine, but I just wasn't a fan. I don't mind Whittaker, I think she makes a rather good doctor and with time and a good director they could have made a really good female doctor arc, but it feels like she was shoe horned in for diversity as well as the three companions and it just doesn't work for me, which is a shame because I do love watching the youtube collations of her best or funniest moments
Torchwood (2006) (4 seasons) Rating: 8.5/10 Tags: LGBTQ+; British; Doctor Who; Comments: Fuck me. I love the first two seasons, and I can't stand the last two, and that is literally the only way to describe this tv show, because they started out with something in season 1 or 2, and they ran with it and it was beautiful, but they tried to change it and mess with the formula too much in a way that just took away from it.
Don't get me wrong, I do like it when shows try something new and different, and one of the reasons that I've stopped watching a lot of shows that I used to love like House and NCIS was their formulaic nature, but there's something about Doctor Who and Torchwood that just lends itself really well to the flavour of the week monster, and the random episodes where they do something different and new, rather than screwing with the entire format of the show and the cast just to make something new, without thinking it through.
Ghosts (UK) (2019) (4 seasons) Rating: 8.5/10 Tags: LGBTQ+; British; Comments: Heartwarming, funny - it's the horrible histories cast - who couldn't love anyting they did?
The Good Place (2016) (4 seasons) Rating: 8/10 Tags: Philosophy; Comments: A nice easy watch, with some philosophy lessons thrown in
Wednesday (2022) (1 season) Rating: 6/10 Tags: Addams Family; Comments: I did enjoy the show, but the first episode just reminded me too much of a mean girls meets harry potter crossover, and I hated that episode. The series does pick up from there, and there are some good plot twists in the later episodes. There are a fair amount of inconsistencies within the Addams Family characters, but for a nice, light hearted watch with a bit of a spooky gothic twist I'd say go for it, just don't expect the je ne sais quoi that makes a piece of media a truly great Addams Family movie or tv series.
